I ended up changing rooms after a long, painful argument about the AC. It was broken, but the front desk guy insisted it worked and lectured me about complaining, even though it was objectively not working. This was during some of the hottest days of the summer. He eventually let me switch rooms, but wouldn't give me a refund.

The employees were really kind, and the service was wonderful. The prices are okay for the quality, but the rooms are amazingly cramped. I only stayed one night, so I gave it 3 stars. If I had needed to stay longer, I probably would have disliked it a lot. It feels more like a small hotel.

That 'Junior Suite' is worth being careful about. We asked for a single room, and the woman at the front desk showed us that one. We took it without realizing it was meant to be special. It has no extra space or different amenities, and the wifi doesn't even reach it. We were charged about double what we would have paid otherwise. The rest of the staff seemed much more trustworthy. The hotel itself is clean and has a funky 70's style. Lots of rooms look out over the malecon, which is a great view, though it can get a bit noisy. It's close to the metro in the historical district, and cheaper than anything Lonely Planet. Free wifi and cheap room service, too. At $240 pesos (roughly $21USD) a night, it was MUCH nicer than other hotels in the area that cost twice as much.

I really enjoyed the pasta and soup, and the food was pretty sweet. Their drinks are very nice too, especially the Margarita, which is very good.
