NH Collection Mexico City Santa Fé

We'd happily return and consider NH hotel in Santa Fe for R&R. The service was excellent, especially from Edith at the front desk. Karen was very helpful too, and front desk manager Mayeli was attentive and had a great attitude toward our recommendations.

It's hard to say whether the hotel is simply old or hasn't had money put into remodeling. The rooms were okay and clean, as they should be, but the whole experience felt overpriced. The breakfast buffet was terrible and cost too much. Parking isn't free either, they charge around $6 USD per night.

My colleague became ill and blamed the breakfast, though he can't prove it. The buffet was poor: there was no bacon despite posters advertising it, and food sat on room-temperature plates from 6am to 1pm. My room was also disappointing, with no coffee machine; I called reception for one, and the one they brought didn't work properly. The bathroom was dirty, with mold in the toilet. I had booked a meeting room, but staff couldn't understand my request for access. They charged 50 pounds for half a day's use of ohp.

The rooms were kept clean, and the gym was well equipped. The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the Santa Fe mall, which is a decent location. I haven't stayed elsewhere in Mexico city to compare, but I don't think this is an ideal choice for foreigners: most staff only understood Spanish, buffet dishes generally weren't labelled and their ingredients were unclear, and there was practically nothing for vegetarians. The infrastructure and even the cutlery looked worn, and the TV had display problems. It doesn't compare well with international standard hotels.
