OYO Hotel San Felipe Inn

The only thing I liked was the location, and that had nothing to do with the hotel. The room was filthy, with several dead cockroaches still there, the bathroom hygiene was poor, the beds were worn, and some sheets were torn. We also found something that might have been a bed bug, flea, or tick. It bit me the next day. The lock was broken, and there was no hot water until the last day, just before we left. We got only one towel for two people, despite having separate beds. They dumped their trash outside, including trash from our room, and there was constant noise from the ceiling. At 1000 pesos a night, it was far too expensive for what we got, not even worth one star. It was Day of the Dead season and we had no other option, but if you can, don't bother coming. Otherwise, avoid it.

The location was the only good part. Our room wasn't clean, the mattresses were dirty, and the bedspreads had some stains. One mattress had bedbugs, which was unpleasant. There was no hot water either. When I mentioned that, they kept giving me the runaround about the water heater and other problems. There was also a lot of outside noise, apparently because the area is behind a kitchen.

I was late for work because there was no water in the morning, and no one seemed to know whether the shower used a boiler or an electric heater. The manager was nowhere to be found, leaving everything to the receptionists. What a mess, and the service was terrible. My Booking.com reservation wasn't honored when I arrived, and its listing had different information and a picture of the hotel. Poor management all around. The price was outrageous for what we got: 600 for two people, with no hot water, no water, no parking, no good service, no staff, and no manager. I don't recommend it.

The room was spacious and practical, and the price was quite good for its size and location in one of Oaxaca's exclusive areas. It could use a little maintenance, though nothing that stopped us from using it comfortably. There was some disorganization with the booking. I had reserved two double beds, but was told they weren't available when we arrived and was given a king-size bed instead. They did sort the issue out.
