Hotel Real del Sur

There’s hardly anything nearby apart from a supermarket, and the hotel sits beside a main highway, so it was extremely loud. I couldn’t sleep properly even with earplugs, and the windows badly need better soundproofing. The furniture and carpets are old, and the safe didn’t work because it had no batteries. They also wanted a 200 MXN deposit for the key.

Please don’t stay here. I woke up after one night covered in bedbug bites, and the beds seemed to have bedbugs. The room looked old, with mold on the ceilings. When I told the staff, they didn’t want to refund me and kept me waiting a long time for an answer. They also refused to provide medical attention, which made me more suspicious and convinced me they were at fault. A dirty room-service tray and empty beer bottles from previous guests were left right outside my room and never collected. It was a horrible experience and not worth it.

The staff were really nice and helpful, but the hotel itself was a huge disappointment. I booked based on its five-star rating, then arrived to find a place that felt more like two stars, as if it had seen better days back in the 90s. The rooms were decent and clean, though the carpets needed cleaning or replacement, and both my towels had large old stains that no hotel should accept. The lobby needs to be cleaned or redone, and the waterfall, while nice, badly needed a deep clean. The TV system needs an update: I couldn’t get reception or connect my phone to mirror anything. I’d rate the hotel a two.

The rooms are big, but the hotel looks like it hasn’t changed since it was built and needs a full update. The sheets were torn, there was mold in the bathroom, and the AC didn’t work. The lobby bar was so loud at night that we couldn’t sleep, and the people standing around for the show weren’t appropriate for minors to see as they passed by. The TV was extremely outdated and barely worked. We had to get the room key card activated every day. This place needs remodeling ASAP.
