Suites Capri – Reforma 410

The housekeeping staff and security were respectful and professional, but my experience with service was one of the worst I’ve had in a hotel. The problem was at the lobby, especially with two staff members who seemed indifferent, unprofessional, and uninterested in helping. Requests came across as a nuisance, and they were slow and disorganized. There was no warmth or initiative, and some interactions felt outright inappropriate. Since the lobby is where guests first go for help, those two people left the whole stay with a negative impression. It’s surprising the hotel lets basic customer service be undermined so clearly by individual behavior. I wouldn’t recommend staying here under any circumstances. There are much better options in the city that understand what service means.

The location is excellent and the views are lovely. The place feels run down, though, and the facilities haven’t been looked after well. My room had an unpleasant glue-and-paint smell, and reception service was poor. At around $75 a night, I guess the price is fair, but expectations need to be modest.

We stayed at Suites Capri while exploring Mexico City, and it worked really well as a base. The location is fantastic, and there’s a nice pool plus a rooftop grill, BBQ, and seating area. Good value, too.

The top-floor room, 16F, was spotless, spacious, and quiet, with windows facing the back. Wi-Fi was blazing fast, the hot water worked, and all the faucets were fine. I paid a fraction of the price of nearby hotels, which made it a strong value. The catch was no A/C. Even in late October, with it 15 degrees outside, the room was in the high 20s. I had to leave the door open each night to get air moving, and didn’t sleep well because of the heat. There was no drinking water, and although there was a coffee maker, there was no coffee. I actually prefer buying beans from a specialty roaster anyway. Soap was supplied, but not shampoo. Convenience stores are close by, though it takes a few minutes to walk to them. I should’ve checked the amenities instead of assuming, haha. By Mexican standards I’d call it a good-value 3.5-star stay, and I’d recommend it if you’re okay without A/C.
