City Express by Marriott Monterrey Universidad

The metro station is right across the street, and nearby businesses make it easy to get lunch or dinner without walking far. The hotel felt very safe and secure. We arrived around 1 a.m. and had no trouble checking in. The atmosphere was great, the people were friendly, and breakfast was amazing. We paid $145 a day, and the stay exceeded our expectations. Worth the money, just plan ahead and reserve.

The staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful, and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel was exceptionally clean and in a great location, which made the stay comfortable and memorable. Its look is simple and modern, with a clean, minimalist design. We’d gladly stay again and recommend it.

Staff are overbearing, both in person and on the phone, and the service is awful. They tell you one thing, then another, and never fix the problem. The manager is no better, just there for show. I wouldn’t stay here even for free.

The shower in room 305 was too warm even with the faucet turned all the way to cold. I don’t know if it’s the same in other rooms. There’s no pool, and when I arrived there was nobody by the entrance near the elevator. No signs explained that you have to take the elevator to reach the lobby. I’d booked ahead but arrived in Monterrey earlier than expected and wanted to ask about checking in early. The number on Google Maps sent me to the main number, where I was given another number. I called that one at least three times with no answer. I later confirmed it was the right number and the hotel’s main line.
