Galeria Plaza Monterrey

The mountain view room had an excellent view, and the breakfast buffet was good even if the choices were limited. Rooms were clean and cleaned every day. They have Alexa smart speakers in the rooms, which some people might like. We unplugged ours. The hotel looks modern and is in a good spot near downtown. An Uber to the centre costs around 45mx, about 2,2€. There are two small stores (Oxxo) and an ATM right beside the hotel. Restaurant staff didn't speak English very well, apart from the main chef. Special mention to the younger male receptionist, who was really helpful and spoke perfect English.

The building is beautiful, the facilities are excellent, and the property is clearly well maintained. But service felt rigid and not very welcoming, especially at the front desk. The hotel doesn't accept U.S. dollars, which was inconvenient as an international traveler. At breakfast I only had $50 and $100 bills and no local currency, so I couldn't leave a tip. Afterward, the servers' attitude changed noticeably and they were less attentive. Another time, my wife was at the hotel while I went out for work. She didn't have the credit card with her and tried to order room service. They wouldn't take U.S. dollars or charge it to the room for me to pay when I got back. I had to send her money through Uber so she could pay. That lack of flexibility and understanding felt unnecessarily cold. The hotel has a lot going for it, but a more accommodating approach to international travelers and better guest service would make the experience much better.

I had a great stay and would definitely come back on my next trip to Monterrey. The location is easy to reach from downtown, and it has a pool, gym, and conference room. All the staff gave awesome service.

The price was great, the food was good, and the staff were really friendly and helped me with English. I'd highly recommend this location. The restaurant could be faster, and the rooms need a deeper clean, but overall it was great.
