Hotel Monterrey Macroplaza

The location is really convenient and the hotel is affordable. It's a little dated, but otherwise okay.

It's okay if all you need is a place to sleep for one night. The hotel and rooms are extremely old, and the rooms weren't comfortable or very clean. They don't provide water, either. The gym looks like it came from the 1940s, and none of the machines work. I've been itchy all over since sleeping there, and I think the room may be why. There's no restaurant, so if you want to relax and enjoy your stay, look elsewhere.

I came for an exhibition and planned to stay four nights. The first impression was okay, and the view was nice, but on the third night cockroaches were roaming around my room. I was disgusted and asked to check out a day early. I also asked the manager, Henri, for a refund, but after more than three weeks of waiting, he still hasn't processed it. I can't believe he broke his promise. The hotel is much too old and probably can't get the infestation under control. The carpets are aged, with holes everywhere. If you like cockroaches, stay here.

The hotel's location is excellent, with safe surroundings and lots to see nearby. Getting settled was another matter. I arrived at midnight, found the main entrance closed, and my taxi dropped me at the hotel next door. Though I'd booked a standard room, they put me in a secondary room facing a tiny interior patio. Staff first refused to move me, saying I was on an executive floor. After I insisted, they finally gave me a room with an outside window, and I was much more comfortable. The initial service and room assignment need improvement.
