Hotel Alameda Centro Historico

We were given a windowless room, pitch black like a den. For a short visit we managed, but sleeping somewhere with no natural light on vacation felt depressing. The location is great, though I wish they wouldn't put guests in that room and would use it for storage instead.

Everything is within walking distance. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean, and the service excellent.

The hotel is beautiful inside, and even though our room was on the inside with no city view, we appreciated how clean and lovely it was. It's within walking distance of the cathedral and shops. I hadn't realized there were different room types. Our room wasn't ready at the 3:00 pm check-in on day one, so my father had to take the bags and come back later. We finally checked in around midnight. We also had to leave the car keys with staff so they could park it; we weren't allowed to park it ourselves. When we got the car back, the tank was almost empty. That was concerning, so we planned to keep a close eye on it the next night. Breakfast was decent on day two, though you have to ask separately for fruit from the buffet. We also didn't have enough towels for four people, there was no face cloth or hand towel, and no conditioner. Bring your own or pick up a small bottle at the supermarket down the block.

The complimentary breakfast and the service were excellent, and otherwise this would have been a five-star stay for me. We were a big group renting four rooms, though, and the beds weren't large enough for couples. The rooms also had no fridge, microwave, iron, or dirty laundry bags, which was inconvenient, and the hotel didn't provide ice cubes. I still highly recommend it.
