NaNa Vida Hotel Morelia

A great find in the heart of the city. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the staff were lovely. English-speaking staff helped us out. They gave us fancy soap when we arrived and a regional art shirt when we left. Great value for the price, and I can highly recommend it.

The staff were well beyond five-star, and I loved the morning Cafe de olla with fruit and pastry. The stay was otherwise perfect, though the room could use a coffee maker and maybe a work desk.

The old town location made this a great place to stay, and the price felt right. We loved how the hotel reflected the city’s culture. On arrival, we got to choose a handmade soap bar to take home. For my birthday, the staff left a vase of flowers in my room, and Dulce and Anna made our stay especially memorable. Luz and Emma were lovely too. Everyone was kind, spoke English well, and went out of their way to help. Our room faced the street, but the windows and shutters kept the noise out. Breakfast was included and enough for us. We tried a ham omelet on our last morning, which was very good. The cinnamon coffee was a bit too sweet for us at breakfast. There’s an OXXO half a block away with a coffee shop inside, and El Pastor across the street is handy for lunch or a light dinner. This was the best hotel we stayed at in Mexico, easily a 5+++.

Morelia is a stunning UNESCO recognized city, with so much to see and do, and we’ll be back. The hotel itself was once a grand 17th-century family home. It’s been extensively updated, but still has an intriguing, majestic feel, with antiques alongside modern art and artisan-made soft furnishings. I think there are ten rooms, and each one is different and very comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful that I’m nearly lost for words. We were welcomed with a gift and even received gifts when we left.
