If you’re arriving on a night bus, I’d stay somewhere else. We were exhausted and asked about an empty room when we arrived, willing to pay extra, but the person working said there wasn’t one. After we’d waited an hour, we saw the room we were being assigned had been vacated by the previous guest, so we asked if we could get in early. We offered to use our sleeping bags and strip the beds ourselves, but they said no. Then they told us there was an empty room next door after all, available for 20 pounds or 415 pesos. With only five hours until check-in, and that being about what a room elsewhere cost, we didn’t want to pay. Being told there was no room and then offered one for 415 pesos for just a few hours was ridiculous. The tax also seemed surprisingly high compared with other hostels. There’s no kitchen and no drinking water either. The rooms have no windows or AC, apparently as advertised online.

The place was clean and felt safe, and it’s a few blocks from the central square, markets, and shops. But I didn’t find it restful or somewhere I wanted to spend time between outings. Music from the bars next door was loud. The TV didn’t work, the toilet wasn’t functioning properly, and the room was VERY SMALL. I also had trouble connecting to the internet.

The courtyard between the rooms was nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is good, only a few blocks from the center. Room number 1 was fairly spacious, but had no AC, as the Booking listing mentioned. Some of the other rooms did have AC. Bars on both sides of the hotel are the main downside, with noise expected until around 12 to 1 AM. We slept through it easily.

It’s a good place near downtown, with lots of food spots, pubs, and bars around the hostel. The staff are friendly, though one receptionist was impolite and less helpful. I can’t remember her name. Otherwise, everything was okay for a night or two.
