Casa De Sierra Azul

Everything was really nice, from the charming, clean rooms to the courtyard, and I'd highly recommend staying here. My daughter and I decided years ago to visit Oaxaca after hearing so much about it, and we chose Casa de Sierra Azul after researching hotels. We weren't disappointed. It's close to everything, all within walking distance.

Our superior king room was at the back, private and quiet even with a number of kids staying at the hotel. I probably wouldn't choose a room off the courtyard unless I were an early riser. The room was huge, had plenty of storage, a coffee maker, daily housekeeping, and Oaxacan chocolates each day. It's a beautifully restored colonial mansion in the heart of Oaxaca, perfectly placed for sightseeing and meeting our early tour operators. The courtyard stayed cool on warmer days. We didn't eat at the hotel, and there are lots of great cafes and restaurants a short walk away. We did get hot water, though the pressure was low and it took a while to arrive. Turning on the shower while brushing your teeth should give it time to warm up.

We had no hot water for showers on two of our three nights, and the place was noisy. Sunday parking wasn't available, which became a problem because we chose it after being told they had parking. The rooms were nice and clean, and the location was excellent, but at this price I'd look elsewhere next time.

The hotel team were extremely friendly and helpful, and I want to thank Don Martin, Ricardo, Juan Carlos, Gabriel, Angel, Carlos and Perla. My dog Kevin loved the place too. We had a wonderful week in this fabulous downtown Oaxaca hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean, right in the center, just two blocks from Zocalo. Everything went smoothly. Keep it up, guys, and see you next year.
