We felt at home as soon as we arrived at Santo Origen. It’s tucked into a quiet neighborhood away from el Centro, with a simple layout: pool, restaurant, fire pits, and eight lovely rooms. Jorge at the restaurant and Diego at the front desk gave us especially attentive service, and the rest of the team were ready to help too. When it was time to explore, Diego or another front desk staff member could easily arrange reasonably priced cabs to Xochimilco and El Centro. Back at the hotel, Entre Sombras was particularly good for breakfast, and the view takes in Oaxaca City and the hills all around. It has what you need for a retreat in the hills. We highly recommend it and will be back.

We had a fantastic honeymoon here. It was easy to get into the city center, about a 15-minute taxi ride, and we liked having a place to come back to and relax after exploring. Cars and taxis were readily available whenever we needed one. The staff were incredibly friendly, the restaurant was delicious, and the pool was great too. Ten out of ten. Can’t wait to visit again!

We picked this hotel for the quiet, even though it’s a little outside town, and it was easy to get a taxi. The views stretch across the city, and the hotel is beautiful. The staff were brilliant about making us welcome and seeing that we had what we needed. We also loved the breakfast. Highly recommend.

We spent four nights in the city and then came here for three days of pure rest. It was exactly right for that, though its location may not suit everyone looking for a sightseeing base in Oaxaca. This is one of the most beautiful small luxury hotels we’ve stayed in, with elegant architecture, gorgeous rooms, a little pool, a great restaurant, and views over the city and mountains. The service was wonderfully friendly and personal. It felt like a slice of heaven. We leave early tomorrow, and I can hardly bear it.

The terrace is a peaceful place to have a meal and enjoy the beautiful views. The on-site restaurant was among the best I’ve experienced, with lovely dishes and atmosphere. Hotel Casa Santo Origen itself is incredibly quiet, and there’s a fantastic park right next door. The service and comfort feel like those of a Michelin-starred hotel. Whether you’re coming to stay or eat, I’d highly recommend it.
