The guy at reception was the worst part. He stayed seated, playing with his phone, when we arrived with our suitcase and greeted him politely. He didn’t seem motivated to check us in or help. What kind of management allows that? The room was noisy and poorly soundproofed, smelled awful, and felt damp and clammy. There was even visible mold on the ceiling. I agree with some of the earlier reviewers.
The staff were friendly and tried to help, and the location works well if you're catching an ADO bus. For staying near central Merida, though, it isn't ideal. Our room wasn't clean or well maintained. They offered us a free upgrade, but the new room still wasn't great: the shower didn't work properly, there was other guests' hair in the closet, and dust everywhere.
The rooms were clean and the service was good. It’s close to the center, in a great location, and not too expensive.
The pool is a nice extra, though the hotel’s shadow covers it, so you can’t sunbathe there. My room felt dated and didn’t have WiFi coverage. It’s handy for the city center, around a 10-minute walk, and there are cafes nearby. Guests can use the parking lot. To me, this feels more like a 2.5-star hotel.
Everyone who works there has been friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. WiFi was available and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I stayed for two and a half weeks on my first visit and two weeks the next time, both within the past year. Plaza Mirador is now my go-to in Mérida because the location makes it easy for me to get anywhere I want. I expect to be back in a few months, and I’ll stay here again.
