Hotel Luz en Yucatan

The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and breakfast was a real highlight. They let us check in early, which we really appreciated, and when we had to leave very early, they readily prepared a boxed breakfast for us. Luz En Yucatán is a beautiful property, clearly cared for and thoughtfully designed. The rooms were spotless, the shower was excellent, and having water jugs and glasses in the room meant we didn’t need to buy bottled water. We had an excellent stay.

Tom and his co-owner know so many good places to eat and drink, and the breakfast at the hotel is a great start to the day. The delicious Burrito Divorciado might even keep you going into the afternoon. Booking direct is very much worth it. It’s a friendly little hotel beside a church in one of Merida’s most pleasant neighbourhoods. Our El Tulipan room had a small patio overlooking the pool area, where there’s an excellent value pool bar. The bed was comfortable, and with a quiet but powerful ceiling fan and lockable screen doors, we could sleep without the aircon. The shower was a bit erratic, though I think that’s been fixed.

Many restaurants and places of interest are an easy walk from the hotel, and the stay includes a delicious breakfast and a voucher for a welcome drink at the poolside bar. The staff made the stay memorable, from Esteban at reception to the breakfast servers, housekeeping crew, and Fatima tending the poolside bar. Our El Iguano room had a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom, with bottled water provided from a dispenser. The room could use a fresh coat of paint, and there’s no in-room safe.

A free cocktail when you arrive is a lovely touch, and the whole place was fantastic. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are really clean, and you can walk to Plaza Grande Mérida, shops, and great restaurants. Definitely recommend. 🤗
