Hostal Eclipse Oaxaca - Hostel

Don't go, even if it's a gift. The place was dirty, run-down, old, and far from the city center. The toilet was broken, the sink was tiny, there was no hair dryer, and the linens were worn and dirty. Terrible in every way.

This feels like a scam. I don't understand how sites as reliable as Best Day or Price Travel can advertise it. Yesterday we arrived hoping to book through one of them. The listing said parking was near the hotel, so we went over to ask how far away it was. The manager then told us the online rate was wrong, and that this was a short-stay hotel charging 200 pesos for two hours. To stay, we'd have to pay 2000 pesos for three rooms, even though the online price was 1286 pesos.

I spent less than a month at the Eclipse Hostel. I arrived on March 2nd and paid 2000 pesos for a month, so the rental was meant to run until April 2nd. To my surprise, today I was told I had to leave. I don't recommend this place for several reasons. The owner sexually harassed me, entering my room twice while the door was closed and making advances. Since I'd already paid, I couldn't leave, and he refused to refund half the money. The rooms are dirty and smell bad, there are lots of mosquitoes and cockroaches get inside, and they charge an extra 150 pesos for visits. When you're away, they come into the rooms to search and, above all, see what they can take. The rooms leak, too. You can't use water freely because the man gets angry if you use too much, and it's the same with electricity.

The room was handed over to me dirty, and we were left without water several times. Even having a visitor seemed difficult: they started charging as soon as the person arrived.
