Ticuchi has become my home away from home. I loved the people there, from the owners and staff to Titi (the cat) and the locals around Oaxaca. It’s warm and welcoming to travelers from all over, and I enjoyed the location, amenities, volunteers, and staff so much that I extended my stay three times. I even returned after being back home for three years. I strongly disagree with reviews calling it unwelcoming or describing “gender-based aggression.” That’s further from the truth. They look after you like family, and I’d happily choose Ticuchi again.

The daily activities made it easy to meet people, especially traveling solo, and there was always something to do. I also loved the lively, welcoming atmosphere, slept comfortably in the beds, and found the location hard to beat. One of my best stays in Mexico. I’d definitely recommend Ticuchi.

The staff were super friendly, and for a few nights the rooms are totally okay, though the bathrooms were another story. Some looked really dirty and there was no hot water. The tours, especially the food tour and the waterfall trip, were amazing, with great guides.

The place itself is great, with comfy beds, lots of bathrooms, a cozy area, and a big pool. There’s always an activity or tour going on, too. The people were so nice and fun, they made me feel welcome right away. I especially recommend Victor’s food experience, where I got to try lots of different, delicious Mexican food. 200% recommend, I loved the vibe and can’t wait to come back :)

I didn't stay at the hostel, but I joined the food tour led by Arturo and Victor. They know their stuff and brought us to family-run restaurants they have strong ties with, plus several food stands, market stalls, and a microbrewery. It was great value for the price. Thanks, Arturo and victor. I got to know the other people on the tour, who were staying at the hostel. That night Berenice, another tour guide and volunteer, put on a beer pong tournament there. It was such a fun way to meet people and get the evening going. I also noticed they run other themed nights.
