Yabanhi Hostel

It's clean, comfortable, and close to the center while staying away from the noise. They clean the room every day and leave fresh towels. The staff are kind and helpful, and they fix any problems right away. I liked it so much that I extended my stay. I'd stay here again.

The staff were friendly and kept us updated before our stay, including letting us know when the room was ready. They also arranged a taxi back to the airport, which was cheaper than the shuttle. The rooftop had a great view of Oaxaca. The hostel was clean and quiet, which was especially nice compared with other places we've stayed in Mexico. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the main Zocalo, depending on your pace. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a fan but no air conditioning. The light and fan were positioned in a way that gave the room a bit of a disco feel. The bathroom was clean, though there wasn't much space for toiletries, and there was a clothesline in the shower.

The staff were kind and went out of their way to help us. We had split our Oaxaca stay between Yabanhi and another hostel, but after leaving Yabanhi we found the other place didn't have our confirmed booking in its system. We called to ask if we could return. Yabanhi was full, but the staff still tried hard to find us somewhere else at the last minute during the city's busiest time. The other hostel that lost our booking certainly didn't offer that kind of help. We had a much better time at Yabanhi. It's a clean, pleasant hostel with a lovely roof terrace and a great city view. Our private bathroom room had no natural light, but it was clean, spacious, comfortable, and everything worked. The ceiling fan kept it cool, and there was even a small coffee maker. There's also a free drinking water tap, and cans of beer are sold for 30 dollars.

Lovely people, clean room, and great views. There's a hill to walk up, but it's not long, and the view is your reward. The owners also have a very cute, friendly dog.
