Hotel El Paraiso

We paid USD $175 a night for a pet-friendly room for two adults, a child, and our dog, and it was a disappointment. The room was in very poor shape, with things broken, and the full carpet was visibly stained and dirty, as if it hadn't been washed in a long time. There was an extra daily fee for bringing the dog, but no water dishes or pet stations with bags, towel napkins, and a trash can. For that amount, a much nicer room was available at Fiesta Americana San Antonio El Puente, at a similar price. They should take off the Pet Friendly label and provide standard service.

The rooms are simple but really comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. The restaurant is great too. If you're staying here and want meals charged to your room, ask for a voucher. The hotel's name might sound like a big claim, but it really is a great place in a stunning location, in a part of Mexico that still seems undiscovered. Highly recommended.

We only ate at the restaurant, but the spot itself is gorgeous, set against a hillside beside a waterfall. The location was much better than the food and service. My wife's meal arrived ten minutes after mine, and half of it was cold. My guajillo sauce was bland, though the coffee was pretty good. Also, the exhaust fan over the women's bathroom toilet vents straight into the kitchen ☠️

The gardens are beautiful, and there are lovely hiking trails to explore. I brought my dog, and she was thrilled too. If you enjoy nature and outdoor activities, this is definitely worth a visit!
