I made a huge mistake booking this place. There were nine dogs when I arrived, and I should have turned around then. On the first day a pack of strays came at me and nearly bit me; a neighbor heard them howling and ran out to help. The same thing happened the next day, and the taxi driver had to get out with a stick to protect me. I asked him to return in two hours so I could pack and leave, even though I'd paid for three days. I called the landlord three times. He said there was nothing he could do and told me to be careful. After I left the apartment, he messaged me to scold me for getting some Fanta on a towel when I'd been drinking from the bottle after entering. I was terrified and shaking after what happened. There were insects, turtles, gnats, and mosquitoes everywhere, and the furniture was old and uncomfortable. It's a terrible place, fit only for the owner to live among the dogs.

I wasn't bothered by the location, even though I'd read reviews saying it wasn't great. The problem was that I never got the access details. The property says it sends an entry code for the building and another for the key box, but on the way there they only messaged me the WiFi information. I checked the confirmation emails and messages, but there was no entry code. I ended up sleeping in my vehicle the first night. Around 1:30am, the property messaged to say nobody could come let me in. I don't understand why they didn't send the information in the first place. Another guest arrived in the morning and showed me the details the property had sent him, confirming that mine hadn't come through. The apartment code I'd been assigned was the same as his. During my two-night stay, they also changed the laundry access information. For the nearby ruins, you need to pay an entry ticket, with an additional transportation fee even if you have your own transportation.

The noise made this a hard place to sleep. Neighbors played music very loudly and dogs barked late at night. The apartment's AC was extremely loud, like an in-route plane, and the refrigerator was loud too. We needed earplugs to sleep. The place could use some care, including a new showerhead. The kitchen is okay for a day or two but barely equipped for a longer stay. It was fairly clean and would be reasonable if it weren't so noisy.

For a place to sleep, it has what a traveler needs: a bathroom, air conditioning, a fairly comfortable bed, and very secure parking. The entry system worked perfectly. Some bugs did get inside, though, so the seals on the windows and doors could be better. It mostly delivers what it promises. A lot of the people commenting here seem mistaken about what a hotel is for, and write the usual all-inclusive tourist reviews. If you're coming to Palenque for a 'HOTEL,' you're on the wrong trip.
