Coral, the cook, is passionate about the food and her customers. We stopped for lunch and had a fantastic meal: the sopa tarasca was the best I’ve had in Patzcuaro, and the stuffed zucchini was delicious. I liked the chunky guacamole with just the right amount of spice, and the salad was so good they even brought dressing, which I don’t think has happened for me at a restaurant in Mexico before. My wife’s fish was cooked perfectly, and her salad had apple, carrots, and lettuce. There’s a good range of vegetarian dishes, too.

This was a terrible experience because of mismanagement. Rooms are advertised as available, but when you arrive, the hotel isn’t operating. No one answers when you call to ask about it, yet they still charge for the reservation. Humberto kept my reservation payment instead of refunding it and did nothing to resolve the booking issues. He rents the property to the Korean restaurant, whose owner and staff are wonderful and have nothing to do with what I see as Humberto’s scam.

It’s a peaceful, welcoming spot about a 10-minute walk from downtown Pátzcuaro and half a block from a sports complex. There’s a little restaurant almost right across the street with delicious tacos and tortas ahogadas. The location and service were good, and the staff were friendly.
