Hotel Refugio del Angel

Parking is included, though it isn't at the hotel. They made it very easy to figure out how to get there and back. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and I would stay again. My only complaints were that the bathroom door wouldn't close and the WiFi was very erratic. Most of the time, my phone couldn't connect properly.

It's good value for a one night stay. The hotel is nicely decorated and well placed near the city center, on a quieter street. Just around the corner is a street full of food and other goods. Our beds were comfortable, though one had plastic under the sheets that crackled whenever you moved. The big bathroom was clean, with a toilet, shower, and hairdryer. The WiFi password was on a card in the room, which was handy, and the internet worked decently. It was cold in the room, with no heating, despite the August rain. Apparently that's customary there, so bring enough warm clothes. Sound insulation is practically nonexistent: you can hear hallway music and, if you're near the stairs, the phone ringing at reception. For that reason I'd avoid a street side room. The regular rooms with two double beds seemed to be on the other side.

The rooms looked pleasant and were clean, and the location was quite good. But the beds were very uncomfortable. There was no help with luggage to the second floor, the internet was slow, and the water was barely hot.

Right in downtown Patzcuaro, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The service, though, was very poor.
