La Quinta by Wyndham Aguascalientes

The shuttle was the main reason I booked this Hotel for the night of Jan. 8,2023, before an early flight. I arrived and saw a van parked outside, then checked in and asked to arrange the free ride to the Airport for the next morning. The receptionist bluntly said they no longer offered it. Stuck out in the middle of nowhere, I had no choice but to stay. In the morning I asked for a Taxi, but a shuttle van showed up. At the Airport, I was charged $500 pesos for a trip of just a few kilometers. An airport Taxi had charged $280 pesos to downtown Aguascalientes Calientes. I suspect the receptionist and driver are taking the money charged for what was supposed to be a FREE shuttle and splitting it. It felt like they were taking advantage of guests in a difficult situation. Be aware if you stay here. I sure as heck won't be back.

We were in town for an IVF procedure, and I'd just had surgery. I really wish I hadn't had to deal with this while I was in that condition. We were staying at the Hilton and decided to move near the airport for our flight the next morning. We don't usually pick hotels like this, but the reviews looked good 🤡 They first checked us into the wrong room. We'd paid for an “executive room” but got a basic one, which wasn't all that different except for the extra space. The key and its holder were sticky and dirty, so I had to sanitize them myself. I know keys get reused, but they should at least be cleaned before going to the next guest. The front desk woman was eating while helping us, with food all over her fingers as she handled the work area. That looked unprofessional to me. She should have had a proper break away from the desk, somewhere like a dinner table. They moved us to the right room, but there was water on the tile floor, maybe from a leak or cleaning, and hair on the bathroom floor. I have zero tolerance for visible hair left by previous guests. The floors and carpet need to be spotless. We own multifamily and other properties back home, and I run my husband's short-term rentals and Airbnbs. This wouldn't be acceptable there. I set high standards for my cleaners, and they've never let me down. We changed rooms several times because each one had a problem. One had AC that shut off after a minute or two and wouldn't stay on. Another had an awful, loud rattling noise from somewhere. We finally settled for a room with a leaking toilet, so we stepped in toilet water after showering 🤢. The walls need repainting, and the furniture is chipped and worn. Time to replace it, La Quinta. My side of the bed had no nightstand, just a footstool in its place. The stainless steel elevator and surrounding area were dirty too, with obvious fingerprints and greasy smears. At least the beds were very comfortable, and the sheets were clean with no hair on them. The front desk staff were nice and patient, and did the best they could with what La Quinta had to offer. I won't stay here again, or at any La Quinta. If you do stay, avoid room 205 with the leaking toilet, room 223 with the super loud mystery rattling, and room 204 where the AC cuts out after a minute or two.

The pool was great, apart from a small swarm of ants. The staff quickly stepped in and got rid of them. The place was very clean and comfortable, and the team was attentive and kind. My respect to them, especially Mr. Salvador. It's on the outskirts of the city, but worth the money. I recommend it.

Clean, medium-sized rooms and easy access to the highway make La Quinta by Wyndham Aguascalientes a convenient option, especially if you're passing through. It's comfortable too, though a bit outside the downtown area.
