We spent most of our time by the sea, watching pelicans dive for fish and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The pools were refreshing and a great place to unwind in the Baja sunshine. Our meals at Barco were another highlight. Breakfast and dinner were both consistently delicious, beautifully presented, and served with care that made each one feel special. Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés is lovely, calm, and well maintained, with stunning views of the marina and Sea of Cortez throughout. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. The service across the property was warm, attentive, and professional. We had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful setting, great views, and a lovely marina. Service was mostly very good. At the Palapa on the beach, though, we couldn’t order food unless each of us spent $1400 pesos on a day pass. We only wanted something to eat during breaks in our conference. They rudely sent us away, and no other restaurant on the property was open until half an hour later.

The included breakfasts were often the best meal of our day, and the people serving them were lovely and friendly. We visited in April, off-season, and had a lovely time. As Platinum IHG members, we were upgraded halfway through. Our view room was lovely, though the same size as the one we’d had before. Most guests seemed to be Mexican, which we thought was a good sign. The property was in good condition and everything worked. It was all very clean, with excellent linens and towels. Staff were polite and quick to respond. A couple of things kept it from being a five-star stay for me. I was surprised that tap water couldn’t be used for drinking or brushing teeth. At a resort of this level, I’d expect whole-site water filtering. Because of that, we also had to use bottled water for our morning coffee and tea in our own kettle. That added up to 10-12 small bottles a day, with no larger bottles or other option. A smaller gripe: each lovely balcony had just one chair. We asked for another in the first room and got one, but the second one never showed up. I don’t see why there can’t be two chairs and a small side table out there. The plastic bottle waste from the water situation feels like an ecological disaster. They shouldn’t skimp on balcony chairs, either.

The staff were mostly excellent and did their best to make us comfortable. We did have one substandard waiter, though I especially liked the cheerful, friendly bartender at the pool bar. The fish tacos at Barco were very good, but other food was hit and miss. We only tried breakfast once because it was so salty it was barely edible. The wine list was long, yet the only white available by the glass was one wine, since the others listed weren’t in stock. I came because of a New York Times story from April 2024 that lovingly and accurately described La Paz and its beautiful beaches, and spoke well of Hotel Indigo. My own stay was somewhat disappointing. The property could use a map. It isn’t huge, but the layout wasn’t intuitive. I also found the atmosphere too exclusive, both at the Indigo and at nearby fancy resorts. I’d have preferred a more welcoming feel, which makes me think I chose the wrong neighborhood. If I return to La Paz, which I hope to, I’d pick another hotel. At this price, I felt I could have done better.

A calm, relaxing place to rest and enjoy La Paz. Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés is modern and well located by the ocean, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I had a very pleasant stay.
