We paid under 200 for a room with two full size beds and breakfast, which seemed fair. It was our first visit, just for one night with my family, and I recommend it for travelers. The room was very clean with a nice view out front, and had a TV and A/C. The beds were comfortable, the shower was a good size and felt luxurious, and there was breakfast with an espresso machine.

I stayed here on a business trip to Piedras Negras in December 2021 and would come back whenever work brings me there again. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help me feel comfortable, safe, and welcome. They also gave me great tips for places to eat and things to see nearby. My room was roomy, nicely furnished, and spotless, and the bright lobby felt welcoming too. The whole hotel was impressively clean and well organized.

They let you check in until midnight, I believe, with check-in starting at 3pm, which I really appreciated. The room and bathroom were nice and clean, and the service was great. I missed breakfast because I woke up super late, and I'm not mad about it. The curtains blocked the sun so well I didn't realize it was out until 11:45am. The mattress was a bit too firm for me, but my body seemed fine with it.

For an overnight stop, it's a pretty good option compared with the other hotels nearby, and the customer service was great. Just watch the rate shown in the ad, it doubles when you get there. The sheets and towels are very old, and the A/C couldn't get down to the 70 F we set. There was no cold water, probably because it was 107 F outside. Changing the linens and towels would help.

Our last two stays, in December 2022 and January 2023, were terrible, so I'm sorry we gave City Express another chance. There was no hot water, the phone didn't work, the sink was plugged, and the drain smelled. The mattress was rock hard. The A/C took ages to cool the room, then smelled like it was burning in the morning. The price isn't cheap, but the stay was unacceptable. The front desk staff seemed not to care and offered only mediocre service. I asked twice for manager Claudia to contact me, but I'm not sure she ever got my messages.
