The property is nice and could be amazing, but the pandemic and “troubles” have taken a toll, and some areas badly need repairs. There’s no direct access to Chicken Itza anymore, though you can arrange passes and a guide at the hotel. I booked in February, before the “change of ownership,” and ended up paying twice. I’m still waiting to see if the chargeback goes through.

We spent the first 3 nights of our honeymoon here, in the Percival 1c bungalow. It had everything we needed, a huge tub, and the pool was right outside. You can see chichen itza from the lobby, and the lodge has its own path to the ruins. Valero took good care of us, and the staff were amazing. The bar had a fun, relaxing feel. The food was fantastic: one of the best steaks we’ve ever had, and the pizza at across from the chocolate museum is a must. A perfect start to our honeymoon.

Getting into the park easily at 8am, before the huge wave of tour groups, was worth the price by itself. The grounds and whole setting were beautiful, and the staff were extremely helpful. Food at the main restaurant, El Mural, was only okay, though the service was good.

Solomon at the front desk took care of everything, and the drivers and tour guides were excellent. The restaurant staff were gracious and helpful too. Even though the lodge still hadn’t reopened all the grounds post Covid, there was plenty to see and do. We toured Chichen Itza, cenotes, and beautiful historic towns. What an amazing hotel, everything was beautiful. You can't go wrong staying at the Lodge at Chichen Itza.

For a $400 room, this isn’t acceptable compared with similar hotels. The rooms don’t quite match what was advertised, and the experience was very disappointing for the price. The old breakfast buffet has been replaced by an "American breakfast" of 2 eggs and a plate of fruit for about USD$12. Anything else costs extra and is grossly overpriced by US standards, even a simple hot chocolate. Wifi in the room is nonexistent, and the weak lobby connection is extremely slow. There’s essentially no internet unless you have 4g phone service, which is extremely limited in the area.
