Arena Apartment

There's construction all around, with noise through the day, and loud party music in the evenings, so don't count on peace and quiet. The building seems old, the plumbing smells bad, the elevator never worked, and maintenance wasn't reliable. It might be okay for a short stay, but I wouldn't recommend living here long term.

The location worked well for walking to 5th, with little traffic, and our two-floor loft was nice and spacious. But the noise was too much for me to return. The walls are very thin, so weekend club music carries in, as do neighbors walking and talking. We had daytime sawing from construction above that disrupted my work at home. The upstairs unit also had construction around 10pm twice, on Friday and Sunday. When we asked them to stop or say when they'd finish, they cursed at, harassed, and threatened us. As two women, we didn't feel safe. Power went out a few times too. Check-in was difficult because of the language barrier. We stayed in the older left side of the condominium, not the newer right side. A woman checked us in, though we dealt with a realtor named Carlos. I found him unreliable and shady, and wouldn't do real estate business with him. Take a photo of the electricity meter at arrival. Our utilities apparently came to around $400 USD for just one month. We also weren't told or shown there was a rooftop pool until our neighbor pointed it out the day before we left, so we paid for an amenity we didn't know about. At checkout, they tried to charge extra for things outside our control, like window cleaning, and for supposedly missing towels. Ridiculous.
