Aruma Hotel

Honestly, it was gross. The pillows had mold, the bed boxes were dirty and broken, and there was only cold water. From the moment we arrived, the place smelled like a sewer. It also looked nothing like the photos, so I don’t know how they make it seem so beautiful online. I also saw a TripAdvisor review from a woman who said a receptionist tried to get into her room at midnight in January 2024. That sounds totally unsafe. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

There isn’t any security, so anyone can walk in from the street. You can’t call the front desk because there’s no room telephone, and the phone number online doesn’t work. You have to walk half a block to another hotel, where they split the duties. There’s no bottled water either. People have been complaining for months about the sewer smell. The showers still have no hot water, and the water trickles out slowly. I complained to the front desk, but nothing is going to be done. The owner apologizes to people here but takes no action. What a mess this place has become. You can stay elsewhere for the same money and get much better service.

My family and I spent two nights here, and the pictures on Google bear little resemblance to the hotel. The staff were friendly, and it’s one block from the beach, I’ll give it that. But once you’re past the lobby, the humidity and sewage smell is strong, and it made it hard to sleep. There was mold in the bathroom. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

I came back to a sparkling clean room every day, and the staff were excellent. The room was spacious, with a clothes organizer, desk, and fridge. The bed was super comfortable, the pillows were excellent, and the air conditioning was fabulous. There’s a small breakfast included, with coffee, fruit, and pastries, brought to your room in the morning. If you’d rather sleep in, you may want to ask them to skip it. The location worked really well too: one block from La Quinta Avenida, under a ten-minute walk to the beach, and surrounded by restaurants, shops, and bars. Wal-Mart is also less than ten minutes away on foot. I’d definitely come back.
