Barceló Maya Riviera - All Inclusive Adults only

After trying several restaurants on the property, Dolce Vita was easily my favorite. The food, plating, and service were all impressive. Gerardo Álvarez and Erubiel Caalal anticipated what we needed and had an easy, professional manner. Their wine knowledge was strong, and their pairing suggestions made the meal even better. Dinner with my date flowed beautifully, with each course arriving at just the right time. The details were handled so smoothly: when my lap napkin fell to the floor, one of them quietly replaced it with a fresh one before I could react. No fuss or interruption. The dishes were balanced, carefully prepared, and genuinely good by any standard, not just for an all-inclusive. If you eat at Dolce Vita, ask for Gerardo Álvarez and Erubiel Caalal.

It was a lovely vacation week with gorgeous weather, and Sarah from the pool activity team was sweet and fun. The property and rooms were clean. We enjoyed the stay, and I'd recommend booking restaurant reservations. La Dulce Vita and Sapporo were our favorites. Modesta De La Cruz was such a lovely server, and the salmon was delicious. The drinks could have been better though ;)

We'd happily return. The food at the restaurants was the real surprise, much better than we'd expected from an all-inclusive, and the buffet was solid too. Drinks were excellent. The resort felt peaceful throughout, helped by its adults-only setting, and the pool and beach had beautiful ocean views. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The modern, luxurious building has high ceilings and wide corridors. It's a large place, so the walk from our room to the main areas took about 10 minutes, which was fine with us. At check-in, more help with restaurant bookings and finding our way around would have been useful. Having access to nearby resorts was a nice bonus. One of our best Mexico resort stays, and the price felt worth it.

The entertainment was right up my alley: smaller music-led shows, like something at a jazz or other music bar. The Cuban salsa band and violin and sax duo were great. If you prefer big productions, it's quick and easy to take the double decker bus to those theaters and shows. The resort itself is a nice quiet spot for adults, with good activities too. Silver led fun dance and aqua aerobics classes, and Carlos at the music bar knew what people wanted and poured generously. The beach felt much more spacious than at the neighboring Barcelo resorts, with plenty of room and easy access to chairs. We loved having dinner at Agave and La Comedie. At Agave, both the sit-down menu and taco bar were good, especially the shrimp main and al pastor tacos. La Comedie's short rib and lobster were must-tries. Service at the taco bar was a little slow when we sat at the side high tops instead of at the bar.
