Beach House Hotel

For $30 a night, the price may suit people who don't mind music playing until 3 a.m., stale bedding, or unreliable hot water. I found the mattresses old and smelly, the sheets seemed about 20 years old, and there were no bed covers. The closet had old, musty, itchy Mexican woven blankets, and there wasn't even a bar of soap in the shower. Hot water was rare unless you got lucky. You get what you pay for here, and it seems the guests are content with clean sheets. You won't find many higher-end tourists staying here.

The staff are kind and helpful, and the place is kept clean. I enjoyed my stay and thought the cost and service were well balanced. Nearby party clubs make some noise, so families with children should bear that in mind, though it didn't bother me. George/Jorge was excellent!

I left my passport and money behind after a month backpacking around Mexico, having hidden them so carefully that I forgot them at checkout. I'd already been robbed twice by cleaning ladies during that trip, so I was pretty paranoid. When I returned, everything was still there. That experience made me believe in people again. The Beach house Hotel is great value, and I couldn't have been happier with my stay. I'll definitely stay here whenever I'm in Playa del Carmen. Thanks again!

A friendly cat is always waiting in the lobby, which gives the place a homey feel. The rooms are a good size and simple, with a small fridge, hot water, and air conditioning. We slept well, even though the area is noisy with nightclubs nearby. Running the air conditioning or fan helped cover the sound. The location is perfect for downtown, one street from 5th avenue, a two-minute walk from the beach, and surrounded by food. We adored this place and recommend it 100%!
