Caribbean Paradise Boutique Hotel

The room was lovely and super clean, so I had no complaints about that. The noise warning is real. I’d read the reviews and figured older guests were bothered by faint background sound. That’s not what it’s like. In most rooms, it gets extremely loud at night and carries on until 3 am. I’m used to noise, and even I had a hard time falling asleep. We had a lovely experience otherwise. It could work for people who’ll be out partying until the clubs close, but don’t book if you’re hoping to relax.

This felt like a scam. I had booked and paid for 2 nights, but a traffic problem kept me from checking in on the first day. When I arrived to check in the next day, they said the booking had been cancelled and refused a refund, so I had to find somewhere else right away. I don’t think it’s reasonable to deny check-in after I’d paid for both nights. Staff member Jhonatan wasn’t helpful or willing to work out a solution. There are plenty of better options just around the corner.

The staff were good, but the hotel wasn’t. Our room was dark, with poor lighting, and the beds only had a sheet, no blankets. We had to ask for blankets. The hallway was noisy, and the pool was dingy and dirty. It wasn’t cleaned while we were there. We asked for a poolside room without realizing there was a tea shop serving food right by the pool. People sat ONE foot from our sliding door eating breakfast while we were in bed, which felt so awkward. People were out there at night too, and it felt very unsafe for two single women. We knew it would be noisy, just not this bad. Four clubs around the hotel play until 3 am, and the bass alone kept us awake. Trust me about the noise. We switched hotels on the 2nd night. They should rename it Caribbean “NO” paradise!

What made this stay so upsetting was losing my wife’s wedding ring, which has enormous personal and sentimental value, along with $150. I’d retraced my steps and confirmed I’d left them in the hotel safe. The safe had been tempered with, and it seemed the hotel staff were the only people with access. When I told management, they were dismissive and unhelpful. There was no urgency, no offer to check security footage, and no willingness to take responsibility. I was told the male housekeeper who’d cleaned our room the previous day hadn’t shown up for work, so they couldn’t interview him. They also said they would file a police report, but never did. I can’t overlook that breach of trust. A hotel should make guests feel safe and respected, not leave them with missing belongings and staff shrugging off serious concerns. I strongly caution anyone considering a stay: your valuables aren’t safe here. Keep your personal items locked somewhere secure outside the room, or better yet, choose another hotel.
