Hotel Indigo Playa Del Carmen by IHG

Hotel Indigo Playa del Carmen has a lovely atmosphere, stylish rooms, and a beautiful, clean space in a great location close to everything. The staff were friendly and professional throughout our visit. Alma Santos deserves special thanks for her kindness, attention to detail, and wonderful service. She made our stay memorable. We'd happily recommend the hotel and look forward to returning.

Alma at the front desk made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. She was so kind, friendly, and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out, and our standard king room with balcony and ocean view was chic, roomy, clean, quiet, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. It had everything we needed. We also found great places to eat nearby, and the location suited us well. We'd definitely stay again.

The location is perfect, close to everything. The hotel feels brand new, and we loved the room's design and the beautiful pool. Housekeeping wasn't always done properly, though. Otherwise, our stay was good.

The beds were incredibly comfortable, and I slept well every night. The desk worked perfectly for my remote work, and the WiFi was reliable. I liked the room's accent and cove lighting, although the mirror area in the bathroom needs better lighting. The room itself was fine but small, and the ocean view from the balcony room I booked for four (4) nights was mostly blocked by several buildings. There was only a sliver of ocean, far away and underwhelming. I wish slippers had been provided, especially with the cold floors. Restaurants downstairs play loud music in the evenings, usually until 10:30 PM. The rooftop pool gets plenty of sun, but its water was extremely cold, uncomfortable even with the outdoor temperature at 75 degrees. Breakfast isn't included. The gym was very inadequate, with no dumbbells, blocks, resistance bands, sprint bike, or proper equipment for weight training. Management should consider privacy film on the gym's glass wall, since some guests may not want the public watching them work out. I also had poor service, especially from housekeeping. Even after several requests, my room wasn't cleaned. I tried calling and using the app chat, but neither could reach the property. For the price, I expected more. I've stayed in Airbnbs for half as much that were better. It's not a terrible hotel, but it didn't deliver on hospitality, amenities, or room cleaning, things I expect on vacation. After checkout, management addressed the housekeeping problem and called the next day to schedule a visit. The housekeeper arrived too early, though, and I had to ask her to leave so I could shower. It seems the housekeepers weren't following instructions.
