Hotel Luna Sol Playa Del Carmen

Super clean, and they clearly care about keeping the place that way. We paid only $70 bucks a night when booking online. It's about five blocks from the beach and three from 5th Ave, with all the best restaurants nearby. There's also a very cool gym one block away that sells a 100 pesos day pass. I like this location better than the beach hotels. Free water, hot water for tea at night, and coffee until noon were all nice touches. The vibe was good and the staff kind. Tip well and they'll treat you extra nice. It was no-frills, but I loved it. I was choosing between this place and hotel cielo, and was glad I picked this one after seeing hotel cielo.

The room, furniture, bed, and bathroom were decent, and there are good breakfast options nearby. The beach is an easy walk away. The location is close to 5th avenue while far enough that noise didn't keep me up. I was charged twice, because I was asked to pay in person before check-in even though I'd already paid in advance. Reception and I both should have double-checked. I got the money back a month later. I'd still stay here again.

A special shout out to Carlos at the front desk when we visited. He showed us around, was kind and professional, and helped us settle in and relax after a long day of flying and shuttling. The hotel feels like a vibrant little oasis, close to the heart of Fifth Avenue but set far enough off it that noise stays low. We could hear a little music until about 1AM, but the location and construction muted it enough that it didn't bother us. The pool area is secluded, with trees and tall painted walls, and there's a full communal kitchen if you want to cook. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, with A/C available all day. If we're back in Playa, we'll stay here again.

We only had one night at Hotel Lunasol because our schedule wouldn't allow more, and we wished we could've stayed longer. The central Playa Del Carmen location is convenient, close to wherever you want to go but far enough from the noise. The property has a fantastic pool, charming rooms, and a warm boutique-hotel feel. Carlos helped us many times during our stay. He was friendly, proactive with his PDC suggestions, and just a great guy. I'd strongly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a great experience in PDC.
