Hotel Melina

The rooms are fine and the price is good. You can walk to pretty much anywhere in a few minutes, and there's secure, free parking for your car. I'd stayed away from Playa for years, but now I've got a reason to come back.

A good budget option if you want a clean room, a clean bed, and water available all the time. The ADO bus stop is an easy 6-8 minute walk away. There's also a flea market nearby where you can wander around at night, grab food, and shop for souvenirs.

We had a great stay for the price. The staff were friendly and let us leave our bags after checkout because our bus was late. The beach, ferry, and bus station are an easy walk away, and there are plenty of nice restaurants about a block from the hotel. Our favorite was Cocina Sagrado Corazon. There's even a little coffee shop less than a block away, despite another review saying there was nothing around. I'd recommend staying here, and wouldn't let the bad reviews put you off.

The rooms were clean, but there's barely anything in them. We only had sheets, no blanket, and there was no coffee, hot water for tea, wash towels, or soap. It's a three-block walk to find anything, even a basic cup of coffee. The walls are paper thin, and late-night traffic and other noise were loud. I'd look elsewhere.
