Hotelito Del Mar

The staff were friendly, but didn’t seem professional. We stayed in the room under the roof pool and could hear everything, which really sucked. Breakfast was just toast and butter, and they only cleaned up and refilled the food every hour and a half.

After two bad Airbnb experiences, I found this hotel super clean and welcoming. My booking through booking.com got stuck because I had a security code issue and a freeze in the app, and I never received confirmation, so I went straight to the hotel. Renee at reception was helpful and concerned that I might have been charged, which was very kind. The rooms are great, it’s in a family neighborhood, and everything is within walking distance.

This has been a nightmare. We checked in, left our luggage and went out to dinner, but when we got back, the keypad was locked and we couldn’t get into the hotel. We had to stay with a friend, and my 82-year-old mother-in-law couldn’t take her medication. I came back the next day to complain and check out, and I’m still in the lobby waiting for the hotel to communicate with Hotels.com. The hotel’s phone number isn’t registered with Expedia. EDIT: We reached customer service at Expedia/ Hotels.com. They tried calling and emailing the hotel, but the email addresses and contact information were wrong, so Expedia couldn’t reach them. There’s no communication between the hotel and Expedia. Sounds funny to me.

The staff were awesome and took very good care of us, and there’s a super cute cafe on the corner. The room was decent, but we woke up twice to no water. Staff brought us 5 gallon drums, though showering that way wasn’t easy. The towels were ripped or stained, and the beds and couch weren’t comfortable. The neighborhood was very loud.
