Hotel Playa del Carmen

The Hyatt Centric is just steps from the Quinta Avenida, and our room had a large balcony without a view of 5 Av, so it stayed very quiet. Staff were friendly and looked after us well. The rooftop had a good restaurant, a pool and a fantastic view of the city and sea. We could also use the Hyatt Centric Beach house, which is a short walk away. The two hotels operate as one, so after swimming in the sea we showered there and used their towels. We ate at the beachfront restaurant too and charged the meal to our room at the Downtown House. The sandy beach was perfect for swimming.

We spent a week here as a family and were happy with the stay. The hotel is beautifully furnished and decorated, and being so central made it easy to walk anywhere we wanted. There are lots of loud restaurants and nightclubs nearby, though. I could sleep through it, but I imagine it would bother some people. They do provide earplugs, which was considerate. Service at the front desk, restaurant and elsewhere was slow, but the staff were friendly and helpful. The nearby restaurants and clubs are worth visiting, and the location really is a big plus.

The rooftop pools and restaurant have an excellent view, and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. There are plenty of restaurants and everything you need nearby, but the clubs keep things loud late into the night. Restaurant staff were great, though the food was mediocre. I wouldn't stay here again on my next PDC visit. Most front desk staff were unhelpful: the extra water bottles I requested never arrived, and neither did the luggage rack. Check-in and checkout were slow and clunky, and they forgot to remove the resort fees as promised.

My husband and I had an amazing stay at the downtown house. Everyone was so friendly, and the location was perfect. We also enjoyed a spin class on the rooftop one morning, and it was a nice perk to visit the beach house for a change of scenery.
