Magia Playa 202 A 2 Bedroom Condo by RedAwning

We booked and signed a contract for a three-bedroom, three-bathroom condo, but 12 hours before departure we were told the unit was no longer available. It’s been unoccupied since we arrived. We waited two days for the rental coordinator to come sort things out, but he got another call while waiting for our party to let him into the hotel property and postponed until tomorrow. Sergio has left us high and dry. The condo has almost no cookware, just four frying pans and one 750mL pot, and the oven isn’t connected to power, so we can’t use it. It poured two days ago and two of the three bedrooms flooded. We’ve had cabbage rolls waiting since Sunday to roast.

The rooms were a bit dirty, and construction was underway on the pool, so there was only a kids pool and no adult pool. Check-in was confusing too. There was nobody to find, and apparently we were meant to check in at the dim, unlit parking lot. The parking attendant spoke a little English and tried to help, but they didn’t know where the units were. I ended up carrying my own luggage around while following them aimlessly.

Our condo was spacious and modern, and the pool area was clean and well maintained. The condos are close to 5th Avenue, but the area is still very quiet. We had a very pleasant stay.

We paid €1500 for four nights, but the quality was far below the price. The pool pump was broken and leaked over the balcony, the patio door curtain in one bedroom was broken so we woke at sunrise, and the air conditioning in one room was stuck at 18 degrees Celsius on the first night. Rain also left water on the floors in two bedrooms. At 8:30 pm, the security guard rang the bell because the neighbor, who is the head of the establishment, can’t stand any noise, even with six people staying there. We made two reservations with the same management at two different hotels. This one is definitely not recommended, unlike the Riviera Maya. I strongly advise choosing their second property instead. It’s in a completely different league for quality, even if the pool is less impressive. We’re waiting for some kind of compensation from the manager.
