We picked Playa del Carmen for a Christmas trip so we could visit Xcaret, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and nearby places like Xpu-Ha, Tulum, and Xel-ha. The location worked well for that. Chedraui, a Mexican supermarket, is at most a 10-minute walk away, and public transport is available here, so it's easy to get around for less. If saving on your stay and transportation matters, this could suit you. The room was well equipped and had good AC, but the pillows were lumpy and had lost their fluff, probably from being washed so many times. The shower curtain and hooks were a bit rusty, which made it hard to feel clean while showering. The nearest beach, ferry, and start of 5ª Avenida are a solid 15-20 minute walk away. For transport, ask for DIEGO, who coordinates the taxis at the hotel. In my opinion, it was worth every peso. The drivers were professional and punctual, and went above and beyond regardless of the date or time. For tours, walk down the street to COSVER Tours and ask for PEPE or DELIA. They helped us save thousands and will make sure you get the best price for each tour.

It's within walking distance of Playa del Carmen, a grocery store, and restaurants. Breakfast is decent, nothing special but good enough to start the day with something to eat. The front desk service was bad, with everyone seeming to have an attitude. Cleaning and maintenance were awful, too. The towels were ripped and felt like trash, the shower curtains were falling apart, and some curtain holders and room door frames were rusty. Room cleaning was poor. They gave us too few small, dirty-looking towels, then questioned us whenever we asked for more. This happened almost every day during our two-week stay. For pool towels, they asked for ID even though they had our room number. They also turned off the AC while cleaning and left it off. I wouldn't stay here again.

There was no fridge, no balcony, and just one small bottle of water in the room. We asked for an ice bucket, but there wasn't one. There was also a beetle. The sliding closet doors had come off their track and were stuck, so bring earplugs. There's no "Do not disturb" sign. Staff banged on the door at 9:15, and after I told them we didn't need housekeeping, they knocked again 15 minutes later. The breakfast buffet wasn't great, and when they ran out of forks I had to eat my eggs with a spoon. The Christmas music played on a 30-minute loop, and the rental bikes were crap. Since my last visit, they'd removed the business rooms. After checking out, I realized I'd left my raincoat in the room. I tried several times to reach the hotel in both English and Spanish, with no luck. It's just gone.

The room was cramped, and the view was -10/10, even though they told us we'd have a pool-view room. There was no fridge, ice bucket, or hair dryer. When I asked for a dryer, they made a big fuss about it. After cleaning on the second day, housekeeping left just one large towel for two adults and a toddler. We called the front desk for more, but they refused until we said we'd leave a bad review. The TV was supposed to be smart, but we couldn't log into Netflix or any other app. When I asked about it, they said the TVs weren't connected to the internet.
