Portea Hotel

David at the front desk was the standout for me during our seven-day New Year’s stay. He was friendly, informative, and always ready to help. Everyone else was friendly too, but since we mostly came and went at night, I saw David the most. The room was comfortable enough. The sliding door to the outside stopped locking after our second night. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided, but housekeeping never replenished them, so every other day we had to ask at the front desk. The rooftop was calm and relaxing. We didn’t swim, but we did spend time up there.

We booked at the last minute and had to pay extra, but I was still satisfied. It’s a clean, modern new hotel with a nice bathroom, clean sheets, good water pressure, and free coffee and juice for breakfast. A sweet little spot for solo travelers or couples, though it’s a bit far from downtown, about a seven-minute drive.

The place itself was nice, but there was no water and nobody warned us. The halls smelled like sewer gas, maybe because there aren’t sewer vents. At checkout they tried to charge me for a bath towel, even though the maid had only given me one the day before. They sent someone to count towels as I checked out. I saw them do the same to another person, so it seemed like a way to make extra money. I also noticed the pool water was green and dirty, so be careful. I didn’t use the pool. Aside from that, it was nice, just wanted to give a heads-up.

A simple, nice hotel with great customer service and good prices. The rooftop pool is great, and Quintana Avenida is just a 10-minute walk away.
