Porto Playa Condo Hotel & Beachclub

We’ve been coming to this condo hotel for 4-5 years, but this will be our last visit. We booked in November 2025 and got confirmation, with no mention that the office would be closed. When we arrived, it was shut and there was no way in. A security guard explained in broken English and Spanish that we had to check in at another condo hotel. The master bathroom shower was broken and had no hot water. The rooftop patio, which came with our rental, had a broken table and chair. We called the other condo hotel about these problems, and the reservation manager came to see them. We asked for the roof to be cleaned of bird droppings, but we’ve been here almost three weeks and it still hasn’t happened. The pool tiles are coming off again, and the water was about as warm as the hot tub, so it wasn’t inviting. We also have to walk two blocks to another condo hotel to exchange pool towels. The pool area is dirty, and there’s garbage and debris in the stairwells and planters. We paid good money, but it doesn’t look like anyone is keeping the place clean or maintained.

My family loved the pools, which were great for a morning swim or an afternoon in the sun. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful gardens, modern rooms, fully stocked kitchens, and solid air conditioning. It’s downtown in what felt like the safest area, and we could walk around late at night without trouble. There are amazing restaurants nearby. We needed help during our stay and someone showed up in under seven minutes. I also loved that the gym offers great yoga and is part of the complex. Thanks for the great memories!

The pool was filthy, and swimming there left me with swimmer’s ear, which derailed part of my trip. Repairs also started at 6am every morning and woke us up, hardly the relaxing holiday we paid for. We had problems from the start: the toilet was already broken when we arrived, before we’d even used the room, and we had to call someone to fix it. Our keys also wouldn’t open the main door throughout the stay, so we repeatedly had to call staff to get back inside. After checkout, they charged my deposit for “stained sheets,” claiming room damage. The mark was clearly old and had been through multiple washes, not something we caused. Charging guests for worn sheets as damage is unacceptable. This stay was full of maintenance problems and unreasonable charges. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel or return.

We had a wonderful stay with my family and were really happy with the property, service, and location. It was quiet and very central, with lots of great dining options nearby. We felt safe with our two younger daughters, and all enjoyed the pool. When unexpected renovations started upstairs, the staff quickly moved us to another building across the street. They were also quick to respond to any questions or requests. We’d definitely recommend it.
