Posada Sian Kaan Playa del Carmen - Wellness Oriented Hotel

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice shower and good AC. There’s drinking water on site and a small pool. I only wished there were a way to heat water or make coffee in the room. A kettle would be handy. After a long day of travel and a trek across town, with people offering every service and “item” along the way, reaching Posada Siam Kaan was a relief. Though it’s just half a block from Quinta Ave, the grounds inside feel quiet and tucked away from the bustle. The staff are incredibly sweet and friendly, and there’s a lovely little quasi-cenote, beautiful trees, and birdsong in the morning. We’d happily stay again if chance brings us back to Playa del Carmen.

The staff were lovely, and the spot is convenient for the ferry, bus terminal, and 5th avenue area. The beach nearby is very busy too, with hotels taking up a lot of space with their loungers. There wasn’t much to do at the hotel. The pool is tiny, all three loungers were taken by 10am, and there was hardly anywhere else to sit. Yoga and other activities apparently happen very rarely. The bathrooms are old, the beds very hard, and the elevator was out of order. It felt like a lot to pay for a room without much in return.

The staff were kind, attentive, and helpful, and the hotel was clean. The location is convenient, steps from the beach and close to the ferry and bus station, but it’s also a crowded, noisy area. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, are extremely dated. There was almost no water pressure, so even washing my hands was a struggle. The pool is tiny and feels more decorative than useful, and the sundeck is completely neglected.

The hotel put us right in the middle of the things we enjoyed, from strolling around PDC and relaxing on the beach to reading on the balcony. It’s half a block from the beach, and most rooms look over the pool and garden. Our rooms were tidied every morning, so we came back to a spotless space. Check-in was quick and easy, and front desk staff walked us to our room. We had a lovely stay, and we’d recommend the place to friends and family. We hope to return!
