It's clean and the staff are great, but the place is somewhat run down and needs a lot of upgrades, including proper door locks. Three stars at best.

The breakfast was delicious and came out fast, and we could walk everywhere. It was one block from 5th and two from Mamitas Beach Club. The hotel itself is cute and charming, too. The kids were thrilled to spot the resident iguana by the pool on our first day. We arrived several hours before check-in, and although our room wasn’t ready, the accommodating staff let us use the pool while they prepared it. We’d planned to take the ADO back, but changed our minds, and the front desk arranged an airport taxi within 48 hours of our departure. Best staff! I’d read complaints about noise, but we didn’t hear a thing from Quinta Aveninda at night. There was only minor construction noise in the mornings from the new complex next door, during normal construction hours. We felt welcome and had a great time. I’d love to stay again.

The noise made it impossible for me to sleep for all four nights, even with earplugs and white noise. It wasn’t only the club. The hotel’s soundproofing was so poor that the sound was unbearable. I’d read the other noise reviews and thought I could manage it, but I couldn’t. I also felt incredibly unsafe because the door lock was broken. My partner and I were locked out for many hours on our first night, after an exhausting 11-hour flight. The so-called secure lock was the kind of push lock you’d see on a bathroom door at someone’s house, and it shouldn’t be used on a hotel room. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I was there with my partner for four nights in late January. If the hotel says in a comment that I didn’t stay there, that isn’t honest. Please don’t stay here if you value sleep or your safety.

We almost decided to move here, we liked the town so much. 5th Street is just a block away, a mile-long pedestrian road lined with shops, restaurants, and bars, and it’s the main area for walking around and taking in the town. The gorgeous white sandy beach is also only a block away. My wife loved the beautiful swan decoration we found on the bed when we arrived for our honeymoon. The hotel is very pretty, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was free every morning. We had a wonderful time.
