The location made it easy to walk to 5th and the beach, and the price was very reasonable. The night clerk was friendly and had a really positive energy. The AC was cold, too. My only issue was the bed, which was really uncomfortable.

The repeated maintenance problems made basic things difficult during our stay at Teresa Hotel. The door locks and sliding doors didn’t work properly, and at times there was no hot water, so I had to change rooms three times. Communication was disorganized, and the person who seemed to be the owner kept knocking without warning, bringing outside food orders himself, and handling repairs. At one point he asked me to go into the bathroom to test the shower. Those interactions made me very uncomfortable and crossed professional boundaries. The way our concerns were handled eventually led to an argument, and my boyfriend and I felt we had to leave quickly. We were uncomfortable enough to cancel a booking at one of their partner hotels as well.

The room was clean, the AC worked well, and the location suited us. Reception was very friendly, gave us free tea and drinks, and quickly helped when we had trouble with the safe. But we stayed two nights and the noise was constant, with people walking through the corridors. On the first night, a guy ran between rooms, yelling hello and knocking, which felt creepy. Then someone knocked again at four in the morning. Why didn’t reception do anything? I also found that the room attendant had clearly opened our bags. I take photos of them whenever I leave, so I could tell. Nothing was missing because I kept my valuables with me, but that’s a no go for me, hence the one star.

If you just need somewhere to sleep while you spend your time out, this place might do. My sister and I left after one day and found another hotel in Cancun. The rooms looked nothing like the pictures, the sheets had yellow and black spots, and the refrigerator leaked. It felt more like a cheap three star motel than a four star hotel. We were so disgusted that we spent the whole night calling around for another place. Early morning noise was unbearable, like heavy furniture being dragged around. I saw another comment describing the same thing, and I completely agree. Our door also kept beeping as if someone was trying to open it. The hotel didn’t feel secure at all, since anyone or anything could walk in. And the advertised “airport transfer” isn’t available. Spend a little extra for somewhere nicer.

The area around the hotel felt a little run down, though it gets better after a two block walk. I would have liked a restaurant on site, but the complimentary coffee, tea, and water were a nice bonus. Two dogs barked from 8 to 11 the night before, so I raised the noise issue at reception. Marla was efficient and friendly, suggested I move to a room at the back, and kept my baggage until I got back in the middle of the afternoon. She also helped me rent a bike for $20.00CDN for 8 hours. Thanks for the helpful hospitality, Marla.
