Progreso Beach Hotel

We loved having a ground-floor room, and there was a locked garage with access into the hotel where we could keep our scooter. Across the street, OXXO had snacks and morning coffee, and it was a short walk to the water and the fun. Wi-Fi worked great. The hotel is in a great spot, right across from the museum and beach. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean. The beds were a little harder than I like, though we had hot water, working A/C, and great staff. They gave us a good cash deal for an extra night, called a cab for us, and offered good tips.

The nearby beach is beautiful, and the tacos at the market were incredible. We were happy here. Our king room had a spa tub and a separate shower, with good water pressure and properly hot water. The towels were folded into swans, a silly trend, but I’d been hoping to see that on this trip and it made me smile. The evening receptionist was friendly and talkative and ordered tacos to be delivered for us. There are a few parking spaces in a gated garage out back. It was a relief to finally find a clean, nice hotel room. Standards seem low at hoteles in Progreso, but this is one of the better ones. The receptionist even smiled and put up with my terrible Spanish while trying to help with parking.

Across from the beach and Oxxo, the hotel has a great location. The rooms are very basic and utilitarian, though they could use some improvement. They were clean, the utilities worked, and there was hot water in the shower. Check-in was easy and friendly. All in all, a decent place to sleep in Progresso.

The seafood here is THE FRESHEST, and the portions are generous. Beach chairs and tables are usually available. Local artists provide soothing music, artisans display their work, and locals stroll along the outer edges selling refreshing treats like sliced fruit and fruit drinks. It’s very CLEAN, with a pleasant atmosphere and lots of wonderful restaurants and bar grills nearby.
