Casa Juárez

We were supposed to arrive at Casa Juarez on February 22nd, but only found out at the bus station that the roads had been closed and violence had broken out after El Mencho was killed. It still felt too unsafe to continue, so we canceled. The management at Casa Juarez graciously waived the entire reservation without charging us. That alone makes us want to come back in happier times.

My family stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful time. I wasn't a guest myself, but I accidentally broke a glass pane at the front of the building. I offered to cover it, and the hosts kindly declined. I had a look around: the rooms are great, the location is fantastic, and there's a pool.

The hosts made us feel cared for and welcome as soon as we walked into Casa Juárez. They were gracious, and the rest of the staff were attentive and friendly too. We stayed in the Master Suite, which felt like a small studio, complete with a balcony and mini-kitchen. It was beautiful, like the other rooms we got to peek into, and looked just like the online photos. The bed was comfortable, and the water pressure and temperature were just right. Renting umbrellas at reception came in handy during Puebla's rainy summer. The location is excellent. Oxxos and 7-Elevens are close by, Chedraui is practically around the corner, and there are local restaurants nearby. You can walk to the Zócalo and Catedral de Puebla, and the historic center starts almost at the doorstep. A wonderful place to stay, with superb hosts.

Casa Juarez was a wonderful place to stay, tastefully appointed and supported by very helpful staff. We packed for nothing. We hope to return to Puebla and stay here again on our next trip.
