Hotel Barroco

Sleep was impossible here. You can hear neighbors flushing or showering, street noise, barking dogs, and even the homeless person who sleeps outside shouting. An alarm in another room sounds like it’s going off beside you. Coming back late is noisy too, since the patio is used for car and motorcycle parking, and a bike may be only meters from your bed with just a flimsy glass door between you. Street-facing balcony doors have gaps that let in noise and bugs. We found a large cockroach-like bug high on the wall, out of reach. The shower was covered in mould, and the hotel felt run down. WiFi was so limited that Booking.com and ADO wouldn’t load, which made trip planning a nightmare. Hotel Barroco was far from what I expected, and I regret staying there. It needs serious renovations and better management. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values cleanliness, comfort, or quiet.

The beds weren’t the most comfortable, but they were good enough. There was no heat or AC, though the room temperature was comfortable and easy to manage while we were there. We heard some street noise and neighborhood dogs barking, but earplugs handled it. The rooms were super clean, the showers had really hot water and great pressure, and the courtyard was lovely. Great location, friendly staff, and a fabulous price. Would definitely recommend!

We paid 680 pesos for two doubles for two people, or 700 on the weekend. The place was just right for us and seems well cared for. There’s no AC, but they provide a fan, and parking is secure. Motorcycles can go right at the back, while there’s room for only a few cars. The location is great. We did have noisy neighbors for a couple of nights.

At this price, the street noise isn’t a problem. It’s great value right in the heart of Puebla, with everything walkable, clean rooms, helpful staff, and lovely balconies.
