Hotel Frida

The receptionist was a woman, and I found her service really bad. She lied to me about the price, so I wouldn’t recommend booking here.

The location near the centro histórico was good, and the place itself was decent. They didn’t tell us it was all stairs. We’d said we needed the first floor, but were put on the second. Luckily, they changed our room the next night. The staff were close to rude. There were three of us and only two towels. When we asked for another, plus one for the shower floor and one to dry our hands, they made a big deal of it and treated us like thieves, as if we’d steal the towels. Not every room has AC, and the original second-floor room smelled strongly of drainage. To use the AC, you have to request the remote and leave a deposit. The one thing I liked was the free morning coffee and pan dulce.

We booked and paid for the room online, but were given a fourth-floor room with no lift and nobody to help carry our luggage up the stairs. We were traveling as a family, so I asked reception to change rooms and even offered extra money, but they refused. The website should say when only fourth-floor rooms are available. The room was tiny and very hot, with no air conditioning. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Mexico.

The rooms were clean and a decent size, and the location is central. A taxi from the CAPU bus station cost $100. Breakfast is just coffee and rolls in the foyer, so I wouldn't bother. Book online before you arrive, since reception uses “gringo” pricing. Better yet, there are plenty of other places in Puebla.
