InterContinental Presidente Puebla by IHG

Marco is one of my favorite people to see when I arrive at the hotel. He remembers people so well, and his focus on serving guests makes them feel special. Every time he sees me, he greets me with a smile and uses my name.

We came as a large group, and the food and service were very good. But several things were stolen from one room while our group was at work, including a gaming system and clothing. The balcony door to the room doesn't lock. We will NOT be coming back, and I do NOT recommend this hotel.

Manuel, the pool attendant, was attentive and very polite. He was the one bright spot in a disappointing stay. The hotel was only maybe 30% full, yet front desk staff never greeted us or did anything to make us feel at home. When we asked about the lounge, which was closed for maintenance, they first argued that we had no access, even though we'd booked a premium room with lounge access. The way they explained it made it feel like a favor to provide what we were already paying for. The rooms need urgent work, especially the very worn bathroom and tub. Our room also smelled strongly of old laundry or dirty carpet. This is one of the lowest-standard Intercontinentals I've stayed in, and I'm disappointed IHG hasn't improved the place. It's a pity the Holiday Inn Express next door had better facilities.

I was there for six weeks on a work trip and got very ill during the stay. I can't tell whether it was the food, drinks, or tap water I used to brush my teeth. I arrived healthy, left sick, and never recovered. It looks like this may become chronic. People underestimate how serious the long-term effects of some foodborne illnesses can be. Better safe than sorry.
