Blater Hotel

This hotel is right across a quiet street from a beautiful beach. It has two pools, including an infinity pool with a great ocean view.

The hotel was very nice, but bringing our baby made the crib issue a real problem. They charged us 500$, yet the crib was small and came with NO MATTRESS, so I had to put two duvets down for the baby to sleep on. Paying for a decent crib with at least a mattress would have been fine, but without one the charge is ridiculous.

The beachfront setting is beautiful and relaxing, and I really liked the location and atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and great, the room was cleaned well, and it was clean overall. I’d consider coming back and would give it 4 out of 5 stars. There were some drawbacks. The pool wasn’t very clean during my stay, and while I was in it for two hours I only saw the pump run once, for about 15 minutes. To borrow pool or beach towels, you have to leave your ID at the front desk, which was a little inconvenient, though understandable. Mosquitoes were a problem both in the room and by the pool, so pest control could be better. WiFi was spotty in many areas and often lost its internet connection. A few cosmetic updates would help too, especially the logo on the building and a few spots around the pool.

There isn’t much nearby, so you’ll need a car or scooter. Zicatela is about a 7-10 minute walk down the street. I spent two nights here on a recent trip to puerto escondido. The hotel itself is really nice, a fairly new modern building with a great design and layout. My ocean-view room had a very nice balcony, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
