Casa Vieja

For the price, it’s very decent. The bed, air conditioning, and shower were all fine. There was noise at night, but it came from the surrounding area, not the hotel.

It’s right on the beach’s main street, so getting to food and markets is easy, and the price is good. But Casa Vieja is old and not especially clean. There were marks on the sheets and towels, plus cobwebs and a friendly spider in the bathroom. We were satisfied enough for the one night we stayed, but I’d only suggest it to someone who needs a decent bed for a night.

I booked on December 20 and arrived with my 85-year-old aunt and my wife. The woman at the desk said she couldn’t find my reservation, so I showed it to her. After about 20 minutes of messing around, she said there were no rooms. They had essentially rented out my room despite my booking. Getting a last-minute room in this town is really hard, especially while travelling with an elderly aunt. Trust them if you want, but don’t be surprised if they leave you out on the street.

If I could give it zero, I would. The place was filthy everywhere and smelled revolting. The pillows smelled so bad I had to use my own T-shirts as pillowcases. Surfaces were black, the ceiling was covered in black dust and cobwebs, and the fan had me sneezing all night. Who knows what was coming off it. Everything left black marks on my skin, and my feet were black too. I could feel the dirt under them. Absolutely not worth the price.
